Accident in a Traffic Safety Zone

On the day Brandon was transported by Life Flight Network, he was working as a screed operator while paving a road in Rainier, Oregon. A truck failed to follow the pilot car safely through the lane it was supposed to be in and ran into the back of the paver he was operating, crushing both of Brandon’s legs.

When the local EMTs arrived, they stabilized Brandon until Life Flight Network arrived on the scene. Brandon was flown to OHSU, where his right leg was amputated below the knee. Fortunately, his care team was able to save his left leg despite having multiple fractures and open wounds. After 32 days in the hospital and ten days in a rehab facility, Brandon was able to return home to his wife and three children.
Having Life Flight Network respond so quickly saved my life. I would not have survived transport by ambulance from the rural road to a hospital.

“I cannot thank the Life Flight Network crew enough for saving my life that day. Without them, I would not be here today!” said Brandon.
