Life Flight Network CEO Joins AAMS Board of Directors
Michael Griffiths, CEO of Life Flight Network and president of Life Flight Network Foundation, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS).
AAMS is an international trade association serving the air medical transport community and represents more than 600 air and ground base locations worldwide.
Life Flight Network is the largest not-for-profit air medical transport service in the United States. Its service area covers Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, northern Nevada, and western Wyoming.
“We are pleased to welcome Michael to our board of directors,” said AAMS president and CEO Rick Sherlock. “Michael’s leadership and 25 years of industry experience will be a great asset to the AAMS board and the association members we serve.”
Griffiths joined Life Flight Network in 2002. Under his leadership, Life Flight Network has grown from a program with one helicopter and one fixed-wing aircraft in the Portland metropolitan area to the largest not-for-profit flight program in the United States, with 29 rotary-wing aircraft, nine fixed-wing aircraft, and a fleet of ground ambulances. Life Flight Network has nearly 600 employees.
Griffiths also led the program to achieve both International Standard – Business Aviation Operations (IS-BAO) certification and Helicopter Association International’s (HAI) newest program, Accreditation Program of Safety for helicopter air ambulance. Life Flight Network was the first in the world to achieve this dual accreditation through HAI and has since been elevated to IS-BAO Level II accreditation.
“I’m honored to join the board of AAMS and look forward to serving the air medical community with the same commitment to safety, quality and innovation we uphold at Life Flight Network,” said Griffiths.
Griffiths has more than 25 years of experience in civilian and military aviation operations and remains active as a medical crewmember and private pilot. Griffiths fills a regional director seat with a term ending in 2019.
