The Flight Nurse is responsible for working with the Flight Paramedic in the delivery of advanced critical care to patients of the Life Flight Network (LFN). The Flight Nurse assumes and is ultimately responsible for all direct patient care in accordance to the guidelines and protocols of LFN.
Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years of ICU/ED/Trauma experience within the last ten (10) years.
Previous flight experience preferred.
Flight experience can be substituted year for year for the ICU/ED/Trauma requirement.
Current licensure and/or certification as listed below:
RN license as appropriate to assigned location
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Pre-Hospital (PEPP) certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Trauma Nurse Advanced Trauma Course (TNATC) or Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum (TNCC) certification. Must have successfully completed the TNATC course prior to assuming independent duties; thereafter either TNATC or TNCC (or equivalent) must be current
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) until certified as a Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN)
Must obtain certification as a CFRN within one year of hire
Completion of Department of Transportation Air Medical Curriculum within six months of hire
Complies with weight restrictions (maximum 250 pounds fully outfitted to perform the job)
Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate and work with a variety of people one-on-one and in large groups, often in highly stressful situations
Ability to work varied shifts and cover fixed wing call shifts

This position is responsible for delivering timely, safe, and compassionate care to patients of Life Flight Network (LFN) within their scope of practice. The EMT safely operates ground ambulances in accordance with the guidelines and protocols of LFN.

The Communication Specialist is responsible for receiving, coordinating and following through to conclusion all requests for assistance involving Life Flight Network (LFN). The Communication Specialist will be responsible for communicating with sending and receiving facilities and their staff, EMS agencies, LFN medical staff, 911 centers, and other members of the EMS community. In all instances, established protocols and procedures are followed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or the equivalent
Proficiency in medical terminology
Two years experience in police, fire, or medical emergency dispatch
Proficiency in map reading skills
Certification/Licensure:Emergency Medical Technician or NAACS certificate preferred.
Rotor pilots are employed by Air Methods Corporation. Rotor-wing pilots have extensive flight experience in rotor wing operations, with a minimum of 2500 flight hours, 2000 rotor wing flight hours, 2000 rotor wing hours as Pilot in Command (PIC), 100 hours of unaided night flight time as PIC, 500 hours of turbine time, and must be helicopter instrument rated. Air Methods Corporation rotor wing pilots far exceed those requirements, with an average of 5000 rotor wing flight hours. Fixed Wing pilots are employed by Aero Air or Conyan Aviation. For fixed-wing pilots the PIC must possess 2000 hours of Airplane time, a minimum of 1000 hours Pilot In Command (PIC) time, at least 500 hours of multi engine time if aircraft is twin engine, a minimum of 100 hours of night Pilot In Command (PIC) time, and Command Pilots must be Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rated.
