What is Life Flight Network?

Life Flight Network is a medical transport service provided by a consortium of Oregon Health & Sciences University, Legacy Health, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and Providence Health & Services. All are dedicated to improving patient outcomes by providing helicopter, fixed-wing, and ground ambulance support to seriously ill or injured patients in a safe and timely manner.

Where are Life Flight Network aircraft based?

Life Flight Network helicopters are based in Hillsboro, Aurora, Eugene and Ontario, OR; Longview and Dallesport, WA; and Boise, Mountain Home, and McCall, ID.

Fixed-wing aircraft are based in Hillsboro, OR, Dallesport, WA and Boise, ID. Fixed-wing aircraft are generally airborn within 30 minutes of activation.

In addition to the aircraft, Life Flight Network has ground critical care transportation at its Aurora, OR and Boise, ID bases.

What is Life Flight's service area?

Our helicopters typically operate within a 150 miles radius, but have the capability to fly longer distances. Fixed-wing aircraft can transport throughout the nation.

Does Life Flight Network have any land-based transport?

Life Flight Network operates a ground ambulance in Aurora, OR, and a fleet of ground units in Boise, ID.

What are Life Flight Network's operating hours?

24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

Who calls Life Flight Network?

Agencies authorized to call Life Flight Network include law enforcement and rescue agencies, fire departments, ambulance services, hospitals, physicians and other 911-designated authorities. These agencies assess the needs of the patient and arrange a safe landing zone for the helicopter.

What is the Life Flight Network Membership Program?

Life Flight Network's Membership Program is a membership plan designed to benefit patients who are transported by Life Flight Network under medically necessary circumstances. If a patient is a member, Life Flight Network will accept an insurance settlement (if any) as payment in full. Life Flight Network Membership benefits do not include any coverage for ground ambulance transportation associated with the flight. There is no direct charge or out-of-pocket expense to the member if flown by helicopter or fixed wing airplane under medically necessary conditions. Life Flight Network flies patients on the basis of medical need, not membership status.

What types of equipment does Life Flight Network carry on board?

Life Flight Network is fully equipped as a mobile critical care unit with the ability to perform a multitude of highly skilled medical functions during transport. Each helicopter is equipped with over $400,000 worth of state-of-the-art medical equipment and carries 2 units of blood for emergency transfusions.
